The Louisville High School boys and girls basketball teams will be hosting the Wildcat Classic this Friday and Saturday night at the LHS Gymnasium.
The action begins on Friday with the Aberdeen and Meridian High School girls and boys playing at 4:30 and 6 p.m., while the Louisville and Kosciusko girls and boys will meet at 7:30 and 9 p.m.
Noxapater and Eupora will meet in girls and boys action at 1:30 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, while Louisville and Starkville will tangle at 4:30 and 6 p.m.
Louisville was set to open play this week with a home matchup against Winona on Tuesday.
The LHS boys went into the Winona contest at 2-3 record following an 84-65 loss to New Hope last Monday. The homestanding Trojans led 25-10 after one quarter then managed to hold on to the lead.
Roderick Jackson led the Wildcats with 23 points and five assists, while Nedarian Roberts had 16 points and Mikal Hollenshed scored 14 points and had six rebounds. Gabriel Gale had five rebounds for LHS.
The Lady Wildcats lost to New Hope 73-45 and then fell to Newton High School 72-56 the next night in the first round of the ECCC Tournament that was played in Decatur.
Diamond Love scored 14 points and had seven steals for Louisville against NH, while Tyesha Davis had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Davis scored a team high 16 points against Newton, while Tyeisha Griffin scored 13 and Love and Latesha Yarbrough picked up nine points each.
After the Wildcat Classic over the weekend, Louisville plays host to Choctaw County on Monday and then visits West Point on Dec 20 to close out the 2013 portion of the basketball schedule.
