Louisville’s McAdory sets state bench press record

All three public schools in Winston County had successful days at the MHSAA State Powerlifting Championships at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on Saturday.

Louisville High School’s John McAdory won the MHSAA Class 3A 308-Plus weight class with a total lift of 1,550, just 30 pounds more than LHS teammate Tyler Hickman, who finished second overall in the event.

McAdory set a Class 3A record in his weight class with a bench press of 410 pounds. He also had a squat of 560 pounds and a dead lift of 580 pounds. Hickman had a squat of 650 pounds, a bench of 335 and a dead lift of 535 pounds to take the silver medal.

NOXAPATER

Noxapater’s Tyrell Carter lifted a total of 1,155 pounds in the three disciplines to take home first place in the 198-pound weight class in the MHSAA Class 1A portion of the event.

Brandon Moore took fourth place in the 308-pound weight class with a total of 1,100, while Anthony Coburn totaled 945 pounds to finish fourth in the 181-pound division.

NANIH WAIYA

The Warriors of Nanih Waiya had four lifters finish in the top five in the their weight classes in MHSAA Class 1A.

Jamarlo Smith finished third in the 165-pound class with a total weight of 1,020 pounds, while Garrett Miles tied for third in the 132-pound division with a total of 805 pounds.

Dylan Dent was fourth in the 165-pound class with a total of 1,005 pounds, while Ethan Copeland totaled 1,040 pounds to come in fifth in the 275-pound class.
