Airman First Class John William Chatham
Airman First Class John William Chatham IV of Pearl, MS recently
graduated from Basic Military Training, Lackland Air Force Base, San
Antonio, TX. Training consisted of approximately eight weeks of
mental and physical preparation.
Chatham was assigned to the 323rd Training Squadron, Flight 101, and
to the drum-line of the training camp band. He accepted honors in
fitness and marksmanship. His squadron also won highest honors during
Warrior Week, passing combat simulation training requirements.
Airman Chatham joined the Air National Guard as an Eagle Scout, Troop
42, First Pentecostal Church, Jackson, MS. College scholarships were
offered by Mississippi State University and the University of
Mississippi. Initially Chatham joined scouting as a Tiger Cub, Troop
575, Pearl, MS.
After completing tech school and fulfilling his Air Guard duties,
Chatham plans to further his education in college. He is a graduate
of Jackson Christian Academy in Jackson, MS.
Airman Chatham is the son of Bill and Mary Chatham of Pearl, MS. He
has one sister, Joy, married to Justin Hamon of Caledonia, MS.
Chatham is the maternal grandson of Joe H. Caperton, Army veteran, of
Kosciusko, MS, and practically a lifetime resident of Louisville.
He is also the paternal grandson of Betty Jane Chatham, veteran Navy
spouse, of Mississippi State, MS, and a former resident of Louisville.
