From staff and press reports
Mississippi Granite Works welcomed visitors to its production facility recently.
Russ Nowell and partner Darrell Duty hosted a ribbon cutting on the facility and outlined the plans for making Mississippi Granite Works a successful Winston County based company.
“We are covering accounts across the state,” said Nowell.
“We are focused on customer satisfication,” added Duty. “We make sure it is right before it leaves here.”
Presently, the company plans to employ 5 to 6 people with about 25 sales agents across the state. The company also has three retail outlets with one in Louisville and plans to expand in that area as well. The Louisville retail location is on Ball Drive.
Among the Mississippi Granite Works jobs is a monument rescued from Jefferson Davis’ home on the coast which was damaged during Hurricane Katrina. The Mississippi United Daughters of the Confederacy has contracted with Mississippi Granite Works to repair the monument while keeping the original look.
The UDC plans to display the piece once completed as part of the Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway. The marker will be placed near Grenada with a dedication service set for Saturday, June 16
