Benny George Eaves, 77, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Specialty Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Hill officiating and Mike Rogers assisting. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Ellison Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
After four daughters, Benny George was born April 28, 1939, to George Roscar Eaves and Ruby Henrietta Etheridge Eaves. He was a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church where he gave his heart to Jesus at age 11. For many years, he was a truck driver for Baker’s Ready Mix. He had a special friendship with his dog, Spot, whom he loved dearly.
Benny George is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Joan Anderson Eaves of Shuqualak, Mississippi. He is also survived by three sisters: Rachel Gene Philpot of Radford, Virginia; Patricia E. Gully; and Ruby Whitehead and husband, Truman, all of Louisville; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Eaves was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Zane Rogers.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Gully, David Livingston, Keith Stanley, Gary Whitehead, Kevin Whitehead, and Mitch Whitehead. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for memorials to be given to the funeral home to help defer expenses.
