Nanih Waiya football fans will get the first good look at the 2013 Warriors when they take the field as part of the Newton County High School Jamboree on Aug. 16 in Decatur.
The Warriors will take on Enterprise in the event and will play two quarters of varsity football against the Bulldogs. At the conclusion of the varsity action, the two teams will then play 20 snaps of junior varsity with each team getting 10 offensive plays. Host Newton County and Union will tangle at 7:30 p.m.
NW will host “Meet The Warriors” on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Tickets for a hamburger plate, which will be served at the concession stand, are $8 each and include admission to the event. The tickets can be purchased from any fall athlete. The meal will begin being served at 5:30 p.m., with “Meet The Warrior” night starting at 7 p.m. Admission for those not taking part in the meal will be $2.
The football team, fast-pitch softball team, and cheerleaders will be introduced at the event.
The Warriors kick off the 2013 football season at home against Union on Aug. 23. Nanih Waiya then closes out its non-league portion of the schedule with road trips to Clarkdale on Aug. 30 and Lake on Sept. 6.
Nanih Waiya begins Region 3-1A play at home against East Oktibbeha on Sept. 13, followed by an open date.
The Warriors then begin a seven-game stretch against the rest of Region 3-1A when they visit Pelahatchie on Sept. 27. After hosting Ethel on Oct. 4, the Warriors visit West Lowndes on Oct. 11 and Sebastopol on Oct. 18.
The annual match-up with archrival Noxapater is set for Nanih Waiya on Thursday, Oct. 24. The Warriors then close out the regular season by visiting French Camp Academy on Nov. 1 and hosting West Oktibbeha on Nov. 8.
