Lead by an 81 from Jake Kight, the Nanih Waiya Warriors finished second in the district tournament played at Duncan Park in Natchez last week. The Warriors shot 399 as a team on the Par 71 course.
“Jake has finished first or tied for first in three matches this year and finished second in the rest of them,” said NW head golf coach West Watkins. “He missed qualifying for the state tournament by one shot. That was his best round of the year.”
Coley Taylor recorded a 93 for Nanih Waiya, while Austin Linch had a 109, Clay Jackson a 116 and Cody Clark a 116. Nanih Waiya started three seventh graders in the district tournament.
“I thought they all played pretty good,” Watkins said. “The future looks good for us.”
