Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System (MMRLS) customers can now gain free access to two new online reference databases at any of their 13 branches located in our five county service area including Attala, Holmes, Leake, Montgomery, and Winston. Mid-Mississippi Regional Library System customers will be able to explore the new African-American History Online and The World Almanac for Kids Online reference databases.
The African-American History Online database is a great place for MMRLS customers to read biographies of historic and current key African-American figures, browse timelines of events, and view images/watch videos centered on African-American history.
The World Almanac for Kids Online reference database will assist younger MMRLS customers in locating credible up-to-date information for their homework assignments, learning fun and interesting facts about history, animals, and space. This resource will also be beneficial for the homeschooler MMRLS user base.
In addition to the two new online reference databases, users are welcome to browse our other six online database offerings including: Science Online; World Geography and Culture; Health Reference; Issues and Controversies; Writer’s Reference; and U.S. Government databases.
These databases can be accessed 24 hours a day by visiting www.mmrls.lib.ms.us and clicking on the online databases link.
Customers accessing the online reference databases from outside of the library from any online capable device will need to enter their 14 digit library card number.
All eight online reference databases are updated at least quarterly and most are updated monthly. This provides our customers with the most current information from a credible online source.
“By purchasing these two new online reference databases, we have increased the number of resources available to our customers who may not have a very large branch library in their town.”
