In addition to all the homes on Shiloh Road from the Highway to Center Ridge UMC, the church is also decorated. Robin and Murrey Lee Black put up beautiful decoration above and on the doors of the Church. A spotlight on the door would have been nice, but the lighted steeple is great decoration enough.
A charge-wide Christmas party was held at Pleasant Hill UMC on the third Sunday night with everyone bringing canned food to be given to the food pantry at First Methodist plus finger foods and presents to play Yankee Swap after enjoying the eats and fellowship in the Family Life Center. A short program was held in the sanctuary with songs by the Wildwood Choir and by the congregation.
The week before the holiday the Loins Club had their Christmas party in Pleasant Hill UMC. Am not a member of Loins, so cannot give any details. The pastor of the said church, Rev. Mike Dowd and his wife Charlotte are Loins Club members.
Presents collected for Aubries Angels were wrapped by members of the local Pilot Club and others in the Family Life Center at Pleasant Hill UMC. Gifts for special needs children is a project started by Mollie Mills, the daughter of David and Martha Mills, began in Tennessee where Mollie resides and works.
No special events were held at Center RidgeUMC , but regular worship each Sunday was held. A ceramic nativity made by Martha at least twenty years ago was set up on the altar.
An advent wreath was set up in the chancel area and the candles were lighted by different families each Sunday during worship. The first Sunday in advent the pastor and his wife did the Advent Litany, second Sunday by Danny and Gidget Mills, the third Sunday by Robin and Murrey Black, the fourth Sunday by Beth Ann, Hank, and Brandi Watkins.
We have missed Dale Shumaker so much both at her church Rural Hill UMC and at Center Ridge where she and husband Don attend when there is no service at Rural Hill.. Dale has been sick for several weeks, spent time in the hospital in Columbus where she has been finally diagnosed and can be treated for her health problems.
