100 Years Ago – December 19, 1913

LOUISVILLE: Rev. J. J. Smiley and family arrived here this week and are heartily welcomed by our people. Mr. Smiley is pastor of the Methodist church for the next year. – The L. H. School Basket Ball team went over to Weir Wednesday and defeated the team of that place 32 to 12 in the afternoon and 12 to 6 Wednesday night. The High school team is a strong one this year and deserve better patronage at home games. – Mrs. John Cornwell left Sunday to visit her old home in South Carolina. – Mr. W. H. Curry and daughter, Miss Mary Kemp, of Louisville spent Sunday pleasantly in the home of his sister, Mrs. H. A. Belk of Starkville. – Work on the water and sewer system is progressing finely. The sewer main is now being put down through Main street and is quite a revolution for the old town.

75 Years Ago –December 16, 1938

LETTERS TO SANTA CLAUS: I am a little boy in Noxapater school. I want a dump truck, fruit, nuts and candy. Your little friend, James Russell – I am a little school boy in Noxapater school. I want a tricycle, nuts, fruit, candy. Your little friend, Barney Ray Price.

I am a little school girl in 4th grade. I like new dresses, toys, candies and fruits. I would enjoy a wrist watch. We want a doll with hair and goes to sleep, let them look alike except in dresses, fruits, candy, nuts, dinner set, doll bed. Remember our teacher, daddy and mamma.
