100 Years Ago – April 12, 1912 WEDDINGS: Mr. Addie Stroud and Miss Jennie Baily were united in marriage April 7, 1912, at the home of the writer, N. B. Wallace. NOXAPATER: Mrs. W. H. Webb returned home Monday from Canton where she spent two weeks with her mother, Mrs. Hughey. – Mr. and Mrs. Felix Bane, formerly of Ackerman, have moved here this week and are domiciled in the Jeff Glass residence in the eastern part of town. BEVIL: We are having some very pretty weather this week and the farmers are doing quite a lot of plowing. – Messrs. Emmett Lindsey and Harry Gorden came through our town Sunday on their way to see Mr. Walter Lindsey. – Mrs. Charley Lucas is visiting her sister, Mrs. Coleman this week. LOUISVILLE: Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Horton, a girl on the 11th. – Mrs. Cannon is visiting her sisters, Mesdames A. Y. Woodward and D. L. Fair. – Drs. Parkes and Spiva attended the State Medical Association at Jackson this week. 75 Years Ago – April 9, 1937 LOUISVILLE: Rev. C. P. Thrailkill will deliver the Commencement sermon at Edinburg next Sunday morning. The community on the banks of the Pearl River has a splendid modern school. – Miss Lola Roberts of Meridian is the new staff worker in the Resettlement office. – Misses Lillian Reeves and Elizabeth Wood left Wednesday for Memphis, where they will enter a business school. – Mr. and Mrs. Homer Fancher visited Mrs. Pollard, who is in Baptist hospital, Jackson, Wednesday. DEATHS: Mrs. Sudie Bennett, 69, died following an operation in Memphis, Tenn., where she was visiting her daughters. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. McMillin, pioneer settlers in this county. Services were held at West Union with burial in Masonic cemetery. – Mr. James Lester McLeod died at his home four miles east of the city on April 5th, following a prolonged illness. Burial was in Flower Ridge cemetery. PERKINSON reports Mr. and Mrs. Roscar Eaves are the proud parents of a fine baby girl, who arrived March 25. They have named her Ruby Faye. – Mr. and Mrs. Tildon Eaves are the proud parents of a sweet baby girl who made her arrival April 1st. They have named her Mary Janice. – Mr. and Mrs. Milton Moody attended the funeral of their uncle, Mr. W. L. Taylor, at Good Hope last Sunday. NOXAPATER: Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Reed, Misses Kitty Sue Reed, Mary Lee, Irene Whisenant, and Geraldine Kemp returned home Sunday from the Natchez Pilgrimage. – Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Woodward last Sunday attended the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Woodward’s grandmother, Mrs. Mary Ann Warren, who celebrated her 101st birthday. The large gathering was held at Shady Grove school building. MARRIAGES: Mr. Glenn McBrayer and Miss Odell White were married March 20th.
