After a successful showing in the Regional competitions, the Noxapater boys’ and girls’ track teams participated in the South State Championship Track Meet on May 5 in Ridgeland. The boys’ team ranked 4th overall among 14 schools that were competing, while the girls’ team ranked 5th among the 15 that competed. The results for the boys’ team at the South State were: Shavon Sherrod finished 3rd in the long jump with a jump of 19’5”, and the 4×100 meter relay team qualified for the State Championship finishing 4th with a time of 46.66. The results of the girls’ team at the South State were: Breanna Glass finished 1st in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet. Treasure Lynch finished 3rd in the triple jump with a jump of 30-8 and 4th in long jump with a jump of 15-3. The 4×100 meter relay team qualified for the State Championship finishing 3rd with a time of 54.23. For the boys’ team, the following individuals will be advancing to the State Championship Track Meet to be held on May 11. In the 4×100 meter relay, Terry Baber, Khalil Moore, Barrett Carter, and Shavon Sherrod will compete. Sherrod will also compete in long jump. For the girls’ team, the following will advance to the State. In the 4×100 meter relay, Aleaka Brown, Kiera Phillips, Treasure Lynch, and Margretta Bridemon will compete. Breanna Glass will compete in shot put. Treasure Lynch will compete in triple jump and long jump.
