R.J. Pierce drew a one-out, bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the homestanding Noxapater Tigers an 8-7 walk-off win over West Lowndes on Friday.
The victory clinched third place in the region for Noxapater and assured the Tigers of a spot in the playoffs.
The Tigers lost to Nanih Waiya 8-1 last Wednesday, before beating West Lowndes on Friday and then falling to Choctaw Central in an 11-10 slugfest on Saturday.
Keonte Daniels had two doubles, two singles and three RBIs in Noxapater’s win over West Lowndes, while Nick Strehle had a double and two singles and Manley Peterson ripped a pair of hits and had two RBIs. Marshall Kugle pitched well in a starting role on the mound for Noxapater, with Daniels picking up the win in relief.
Noxapater fell behind early against Choctaw Central, but scored five runs in the seventh to cut the final score to 11-10, with the potential tying run being thrown out at the plate for the final out of the game.
Peterson had two doubles and a single to lead the Tigers offensively, while Daniels and three hits. Strehle head a pair of hits for Noxapater, including a three-run double in the seventh inning to cut the Choctaw Central lead to 11-10.
Kugle hit a homer for Noxapater in the loss to Nanih Waiya, while Hayden Pierce and Braden Estes had a single each.
The Tigers were set to visit East Oktibbeha on Tuesday, weather permitting, before hosting West Oktibbeha for a doubleheader on Thursday.
The Lady Tigers of Noxapater High School picked up their first win of the season last week when they defeated homestanding Ethel High School 7-0 on Friday.
On Thursday Noxapater dropped a 15-3 decision to Nanih Waiya. The Lady Tigers were scheduled to face Ethel and West Point this week, before closing out the season at home against Starkville next Tuesday.
