NW powerlifters finish third

Nanih Waiya’s Jamarlo Smith lifted a total of 990 pounds to take gold in the 165-pound class in the MHSAA Class 1A North State Powerlifting Meet held at Calhoun City last weekend.

As a team Nanih Waiya finished third in the event and Smith and his teammates will now take part in the state meet at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson on April 5.

Smith took first in the 165-pound class, while Dylan Dent was fourth. Garret Miles was second in the 132-pound class, while Ethan Copeland took second in the 275-pound class, and Kyle Jones was fourth in the 132-pound class.

Others taking fourth-place finishes in the North meet were Ethan Ferguson in the 114-pus class, Deyon Sanders in the 242-pound class and Daniel Triplett in the 148-pound class.
