Mrs. Mary Louise Howell, 83, a registered nurse, passed away Tuesday January 21, 2014, at the North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Mrs. Howell was born March 10, 1930 in North Carolina.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services for Mrs. Howell were held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2 PM at Ackerman Baptist Church in Ackerman. Interment followed in the Enon Cemetery in Ackerman. Rev. Danny Irvin officiated.

Mrs. Howell is survived by one son, Charles Warren of Bandon, MS, one daughter, Rita Prewitt of Ackerman, one sister, Ruth Reid of Taylorsville, NC; one brother, Ray Keever of Statesville, NC, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Family suggest memorials be made to Ackerman Baptist Church.

Mrs. Desiree Black Stacy

Choctaw County. January 22, 2014

Mrs. Desiree Black Stacy, worked for the Irvin Company and a wife and mother, passed away Wednesday January 22, 2014. Mrs. Stacy was born October 29, 1915 in Choctaw County.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stacy were held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Bill Taylor officiated.

Mrs. Stacy is survived by three sons, Terry Stacy of Ackerman. James Durward Stacy of New Albany, and Barry Stacy of Springfield, MO, five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Gerald M. Nason, Sr, a retired carpenter passed away Tuesday January 21, 2014 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. Mr. Nason was born June 11, 1936 in Sturgis. He was a member of the Wake Forest Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army

Funeral services for Mr. Nason were held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Wakeforest Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Wakeforest Church Cemetery Reverends. Tri Nason and Bruce Lattimer officiated.

Pallbearers for the service were Austin McCelland, Heath Ray, Daniel Ray, Chandler McCafferty, Matthew Salley and Josh Crocker. Honorary Pallbearers were David Oswalt, Danny Ray amd Mark Coleson.

Mr. Nason is survived by his son, Buster Nason of Sturgis, MS, two daughters, Lynn McCelland of Sturgis and Gina Compton of Sturgis, five sisters ; Theople Hurst of Kentwood, LA, Virtula Rdmonds of Starkville, MS., Annette Allen of Fl., Patsy Wilson of Madison, MS and Bobbie Magee of Kentwood, LA. , eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Family suggest memorials be made to Wakeforest Cemetry Fund.

Mr. James Frank King, 62 passed away Wednesday January 22, 2014 at his residence in Laurel. Mr. King was born in Attala County January 29, 1951 in Attala County. He was a member of the Moss Point Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mr. King were held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 11 AM at Coleman Funeral Home. Interment followed in the South Union Cemetery Reverends. Buddy Smith and Charles Rooks officiated.

Mr. King is survived by his Mother Mae Perry King of Ackerman son, Buster Nason of Sturgis, MS, two daughters, Stacee Giers of Boca Raton FL and Bridgett Peacock of Laurel, MS; sister ; Pam Simpson of Ackerman and two brothers Mike King and Rusty King both of Ackerman, four grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Gene Otis (Pete) Dailey, 75, were held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1 PM at Agape Baptist Church in Louisville. Interment followed in the New Zion Cemetery. Reverend Robert Brownlee officiated.

A native of Winston County, Mr. Dailey was born in Louisville on June 26, 1938 and died at Winston County Nursing home on Sunday January 19, 2014. He was a member of Agape Baptist Church and he was a Laborer.

Mr. Dailey is survived by a sister ; Ethel Thames of Louisville and four brothers Otha Dailey, M. C. Dailey and Obbie Lee Dailey all of Louisville and Moses Dailey of Beaumont TX.

Funeral services for Bishop Eloise Johnson Thompson, 77, were held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Beck Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment followed in the Hopewell Cemetery, McCool, MS. Reverend Burkley Thompson Jr. officiated.

A native of Louisville, Bishop Thompson was born in Louisville on June 11, 1936 and died at Winston County Nursing hone on Tuesday January 21, 2014. She was a Minister.

Bishop Thompson is survived three daughters Mary Diania of Chicago, IL, Georgina of Decatur, GA and Francheska of Virginia Beach, VA one son, Danny of Charleston, MO. nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren

Mr. Benny King

Mr. Benny King, 70, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville, Mississippi. Visitation was at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home of Louisville on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Marlon Adcock officiating.

Mr. King was born December 14, 1943, to Earnestine Garrard King and Marvin Lee King. He was of a member of West End Baptist Church and he was retired from logging with Quinton Hill Logging.

He is survived by his wife, Faye King of Louisville. He is also survived by four children: Pam Knotts; James King; Jerry Lee King; and Jeff Ray King all of Louisville. Mr. King has three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Vowell of Louisville, and Ruby Collins of Noxapater, Mississippi; and his brother, Neal King of Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Funeral services for Mr. Jason Keith Adcock were held at 1 PM Monday, January 27, 2014 from John E. Stephens Chapel. Officiating were Rev. Jack Foster, Rev. Dennis Duvall and graveside were be Rev. Mr. Adcock, 36, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his residence in the Hope Community where he lived most of his life. He was a construction worker. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church.

Mr. Adcock is survived by his parents, Keith and Faye Adcock of Phila, MS; son, Weston Keith Adcock of Phila, MS; brothers, Randy Adcock of Phila, MS and Ronald Adcock of Phila, MS; (2) nieces; (2) nephews; (1) great-niece,(3) great-nephews.

Pallbearers are Dustin Pope, Butch Adcock, Jared Adcock, Scott Adcock, Brock Phillips, Lee Phillips, Greg Bobo & Ricky Bobo.

Mr. Gordon Lee Elliott

Funeral services for Mr. Gordon Lee Elliott were be held at 11 AM Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. David Hardy and Rev. John Stephens officiating. Interment was in Burnside Baptist Cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Elliott, 84, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at his residence. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for Tennessee Valley Authority for 38 years as a substation engineer. Mr. Elliott was a 62 year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and operated Elliott’s Repair Shop. He was a member of Burnside Baptist Church.

Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife, Wilma Elliott of Phila, MS; daughters, Brenda Barrett of Phila, MS, Rhonda Hendon, Steve of Phila, MS, Pam Dunn of Phila, MS and Diane Lewis of Phila, MS; son James Elliott of Phila, MS; (17) grandchildren; (32) great-grandchildren; (2) great-great-grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Thomas Howell, Jamie Elliott, Jackie Dunn, Jackie Tew, Logan Miller, Andy Tingle, Kyle Barrett and Cody Barrett.

Master Zackery Preston Watkins

Graveside service for Master Zackery Preston Watkins was held at 2 PM Saturday, January 25, 2014 at North Bend Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Leavy Shoffner officiating. Visitation was from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM at the funeral home.

Master Watkins, 2, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Philadelphia, MS.

Survivors include his parents, Doug and Amanda Stokes Watkins; brothers, Douglas Lee Watkins and James Alan Watkins; grandparents, Karen Luke, Preston Stokes, Carrie Clark and Alan Watkins; great-grandparents, Bill and Wilma Warren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Shoffner, Sheve Stacy and Willie Luke.
