Mr. Jessie Gammill

Funeral services for Mr. Jessie Gammill, 88, were held at Antioch Methodist Church near Ackerman on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. Rev. Ed Saunders & Rev. George Buell officiated.

A native of Choctaw County, Mr. Gammill was a retired school administrator. Mr. Gammill was a member of Antioch Methodist Church. Mr. Gammill died on Monday, February 3, 2014 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.

Survivors include sons, Wesley Gammill of Ackerman, Wilson Gammill of Coker, AL; daughters, Martha Adams of Anacortes, WA, Juanita Harding of Petal; brother, Charlie Gammill of Dickson, TN; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.

Family suggests memorials to Antioch Methodist Church Building Fund, 561 Gammill Road.

Mrs. Frances Morgan Gillis

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Morgan Gillis, 97, were held at Morgan Baptist Church in Sturgis on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Gillis was a member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Gillis died on Friday, February 7, 2014.

Survivors include daughters, Betty Brown, Mary Bridges, Jennie Hill, Gail Gillis; sons, William Gillis, James M. Gillis; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.

Family suggests memorials to Baptist Children’s Village.

Mrs. Barbara Ann (Perry) Aycock

Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Ann (Perry) Aycock, 68, will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Chester Baptist Church. Rev. Rob Faulk and Rev. David Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery near Ackerman.

A native of Choctaw County, Mrs. Aycock was a retired teacher/counselor. She was a member of Chester Baptist Church. Mrs. Aycock died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Survivors include husband John Edwin Aycock of Mathiston, sons John Marc Aycock of Ripley, Jonathan Keith Aycock of Mathiston, Robert Stephan Aycock of Grenada, daughters Sonya Maria Aycock of Grenada, Dr. Monica Ann Ballard of Ripley, brother Kenneth Perry of Ackerman and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Le Bonheur Hospital.

Ms. Loree Chancellor Duett

Loree Chancellor Duett, 32, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi.  Funeral services were held in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014, with Rev. Justin Wilcher officiating.  Visitation was the day of the service at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home.  Interment will followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ms. Duett was born on September 23, 1981, to Cassandra Partridge Chancellor and Heze Chancellor.  She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.

Loree is survived by her parents, Heze Chancellor and Cassandra Chancellor both of Louisville; and by her children, Emma Hayes Duett and Joe Wylie Duett of Preston, Mississippi.  She is also survived by her sisters, Jody Taylor of Preston; and Leigha Chancellor of Louisville; by her niece and nephew; and her grandmother, Dorothy Partridge, of Louisville.

Serving as pallbearers were Robert Gillis, David Luke, Roy Taylor, Patrick Landers, Dee Mosley and Burr Warner.  Memorials may be given to the Louisville Animal Shelter, 110 Thompson Street, Louisville, MS 39339.

Mrs. Frances Shumaker

Mrs. Frances Shumaker, 73, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014, at her residence in Pheba, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, with Rev. Greg Skelton officiating. Visitation was the day of the service at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Shumaker was born on April 2, 1940, to Mary Culver Tuttle and Willie Culver. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and she was a retired Manager’s Assistant at Oktibbeha County Lake.

Survivors are her husband, James Shumaker of Pheba; two daughters, Lynn Brigance of Pheba; and Loretta Blansett of Cumberland, Mississippi; and two sons, Eddie Shumaker and Edward Shumaker all of Pheba. She is also survived by four sisters: Christine Bing and Pauline Russom both of Waterford, Mississippi; Bernice Watkins of Holly Springs, Mississippi; and Lottie Dempsey of McCool, Mississippi; and by two brothers, Joe Culver of Byhalia, Mississippi; and Travis Culver of Waterford. Mrs. Shumaker has nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren

Serving as pallbearers will be Austin White, Ashley Britt, Mitch McDaniel, Hank Dempsey, Scott Dempsey, and Randy Watkins. Memorials may be given to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 10713 Hwy 14 West, Louisville, MS 39339.

Mrs. Patricia Jean Edwards

Services for Patricia Jean Edwards were held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11 a.m.from McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benny Alford and Rev. Toby Halfacre officiating.  Burial followed in Coy Methodist Cemetery in Preston.

McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia was in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Edwards, 54, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at her home.

She was born and reared in the Nanih Waiya community of Winston County where she made her home most of her life.

Survivors include her loving mate, Robert Clay of Nanih Waiya; daughter, Nikki Fulton of Nanih Waiya; sons, Mack Dale Tidwell of Nanih Waiya and Scott Tidwell of Nanih Waiya; three grandchildren; brothers, James Edwards of Chunky and Danny Edwards of Preston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Sean Fulton, Dale Tidwell, Scott Tidwell, Robert Clay, Donald Luke, and Jessie James Edwards.

Mrs. Carolyn Coffer Savell

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Coffer Savell were held at 2 PM Saturday, February 8, 2014 from John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Shawn Holley and Rev. John Stephens officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olive Cemetery in the Stephenstown Community. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Savell, 49, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Neshoba General Hospital. She lived in the Frog Level Community most of her life. She worked in receiving at the Golden Moon. Mrs. Savell was a Baptist.

Mrs. Savell is survived by her husband, Kevin Savell of Phila, MS; sons, Kevin Coffer of Phila, MS and Cody Savell of Phila, MS; father, Henry Wilkerson of Decatur, MS; sisters, Lisa Holley of Phila, MS, Michelle Davis of Phila, MS, Sandra Higginbotham of Decatur, MS and Kim Moore of Phila, MS; brother, Scotty Wilkerson of Phila, MS; grandmother, Ruby Walters of Decatur, MS; uncle, Tommy Walters of Decatur, MS; aunt, Levern Valardy of Texas; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Austin Holley, Jonathan Moore, John Glen Hamilton, Michael Beckham, Kameron Bryan, Kyle Hayman, Jessie James and Austin Warren.

Lee Vara Hammock

Funeral services for Lee Vara Hammock, 56, were held at Friendship M. B. Church in Gholson, Mississippi on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. Rev. Robert Parks, Sr. officiated.

A native of Gholson, Lee was a member of Friendship M. B. Church.

Lee died on Sunday, February 2, 2014 in his home in Gholson.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Hammock; 2 daughters, Jaclyn Hood of Meridian and Amy Chamberlin of Preston; 4 sons, Michael Hammock of Gholson, Ladarrell Hammock and Eric Prince of DeKalb, and Clifford Smith of Philadelphia; 2 sisters, Dorothy Clay of Gholson and Tammy King of Shuqualak; and 10 grandchildren.

Mr. Jack Colston

Funeral services for Jack Colston , 50, were held at Beck Funeral Home on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. Rosie Craft officiated.

A native of Louisville, Mr. Colston worked at the Winston County Hospital for 14 years. He later worked at the Golden Moon Casino for 4 years and at the time of his death he was working at the Dancing Rabbit Resort. Mr. Colston died on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Hattiesburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Whitney L. Colston of Paulding, MS and Jacqueline Colston of Louisville; 3 sisters, Fannie Ward, Glenda Riddle, and Betty Colston; and 4 grandchildren.

Ms. Sutie Lee Sherrod

Funeral services for Sutie Lee Sherrod, 96, were held at Antioch M. B. Church on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. Rev. James Headd officiated.

A native of Louisville Sutie was a homemaker. She was a member of Antioch M. B. Church.

Sutie died Monday, February 3, 2014 at Winston Medical Center in Louisville.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Everlenna Cockrell and Willie Dean Miller; 2 sons, Horace Sherrod and Tommie Sherrod; 3 sisters, Ester Coleman, Clava Bell Roberson, and Erma Jean Davis; 32 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren.
