Services for Gwineth Marilyn Middleton Baxter, 67, of Saltillo, formerly of Sturgis, were Feb. 3, 2017, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Burial was in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery near Ackerman.

She was born June 6, 1949, in Aliceville, Alabama, to Effie and the late Benjamin Middleton. Mrs. Baxter was a business owner/restaurant manager. She died Jan. 30, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Survivors include a son, Eric Bazzill of Saltillo; three sisters, Linda Harrigill of Brandon, Joyce Miller of Gordo, Alabama, and Susan Wade of Pearl; her mother, Effie R. Myers of Brandon; and one grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.


Janie A. Dendy

Services for Janie A. Dendy, 82 of French Camp were Feb. 7, 2017, at French Camp Baptist Church with the Revs. Randy Bridges, Alex Lawson and Jim Garner officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

She was born Aug. 12, 1934, in Stewart. Mrs. Dendy, a homemaker, was a member of French Camp Baptist Church. She died Feb. 4, 2017, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh Dendy of French Camp; a son, Bobby Dendy of French Camp; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren

A memorial service for Doris Evelyn Henry Reaves, 91,  will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Reaves was a retired sales clerk and a Baptist. She died Jan. 30, 2017 at Diversicare of Eupora.

Survivors include three daughters, Claudine Gresham of Starkville, Donna Brents of Blue Ridge, Texas, and Patricia Wilkerson Sheppard of Senatobia; seven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of arrangements.

Monica Inez Lomax

Funeral services for Monica Inez Lomax, 47, were held at 11 a.m., February 1 at Mt. Pleasant #2 M.B. Church in Noxapater. Rev. Curtis Johnson officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lomax was a member of Mt. Pleasant #2 M.B. Church in Noxapater. She died January 24 at the Speciality Hospital in Meridian.

Survivors include her father, Lemoyne Young; her mother, Florence Young; 3 sons, Joel, Jared, and Jebril; 4 sisters, Nancy L. Jordan, Holly C. Coburn, Carol L. Gibson, and Robin Wilson; 1 brother, Lemoyne Kelvin Young; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Helen Virginia Hampton

Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Virginia Hampton, 91, were held at 1 p.m., February 4 at Mt. Sinai M.B. Church in Louisville. Rev. Carl Moore officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hampton was a member of Mt. Sinai M.B. Church. She died January 29 at the Winston County Medical Center.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Willie Ann Thomas, Rosie Daugherty, Mary Hardy, and Lillie Carter; 4 sons, Reginald Hampton, Henry Steve Hampton, Clifford Hampton, and Ronnie Hampton; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lucious Wayne Redwine, Sr.,

Mr. Lucious Wayne Redwine, Sr., 79, of Water Valley, MS, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN.

Mr. Redwine was born in Water Valley, MS on October 21, 1937 to The Late Willie Sprouse Redwine and Cleland Laverle Redwine. A retired carpenter, he proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Water Valley.

He leaves behind two daughters, Elizabeth Ann “Cissy” Blount of Louisville, MS and Tammy Redwine Moore of Batesville, MS; one son, Lucious Wayne “Bubba” Redwine, Jr. of Sardis, MS; one sister, Eleanor Mae Duncan of Batesville, MS; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter..

Funeral services were held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 1pm in the chapel of Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville with Bro. Frank Dunn officiating. Burial followed, with military honors, in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Water Valley.
