Mrs. Sadie H. Simmons August 31, 2012 Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie H. Simmons, 73, were held at Pleasant Ridge M.B. Church on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. Rev. Benjamin Pittman officiated. Burial at Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Simmons was retired from Los Angeles Co. and USC Medical Center. Mrs. Simmons died on Friday, August 31, 2012 in Los Angeles, CA. Survivors include husband, Robert Simmons of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Velocia E. Davis of Fayetteville, NC; son, Karl Watson of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Mary H. Coleman of Jackson, Doris Lee Swain of Memphis, TN; brothers, James P. Hoskins of St. Louis, MO, Paul Joseph Hoskins of Louisville, MS; 7 grandchildren.

Mr. William Hill Funeral services for Mr. William Hill were held at 2 PM Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 from John E. Stephens Chapel with Dr. Mike Carr and Dr. Wayne Hill officiating. Interment was in Spring Hill Cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrange-ments.
Mr. Hill, 57, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at his residence. He was a delivery truckdriver for Lowes. His hobby was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of North Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Judy Hill of Phila, MS; daughters, Candy Hill Rushing of Phila, MS, Tanya Heath of Phila, MS, and Emily Baysinger of Phila, MS; sisters, Linda Eakes of Phila, MS, Lousie Johnson of Mena, Arkansas, Carolyn Cox of Brandon, MS and Sandra Stephens of Garland, Texas; brothers, Tommy Breazeale of Phila, MS and Alan Breazeale of Phila, MS; (6) grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Josh Fry, Brian Stephens, Gus Johnson, Brian Fanning, Ellis Fanning, Mark Eakes, Brent Smith and C.J. Nelson.
Udell Sylvester Miles
Services for Udell Sylvester Miles were held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, MS, with Rev. Rob Faulk officiating. Burial followed in Vernon Cemetery with military honors, with Porter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Miles, 85, of Kosciusko, MS, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko.
He was a native of Winston County, a longtime resident of Canton, MS and had been a resident of Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko for the past two and one-half years. He was retired from Madison Furniture where he worker as a lathe operator. Mr. Miles was a member of Chester Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his daughters, Sharon Pearson of Canton and Sandra Phelps of Ackerman; son, Tony Miles of California; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grand children; sisters, Ryedonia Miles of Brandon and Viola McAdory of Noxapater; brother, Ira Miles of Florence.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audra Miles; children, Jimmy Miles, Roy Miles and Kathy Thompson; sister, Izora McAdory.
Pallbearers were Elvis Allen, Brandon Ross, Joey Warrell, Chris Jones, Adam Phelps, Joseph Jones, and Joseph Patterson.

Mr. Douglas Howell Goodwin
Mr. Douglas Howell Goodwin, 49, of Starkville, MS, passed away at OCH Regional Medical Center on Saturday, September 1, 2012. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Broker/Owner of Maroon and White Realty, member of the Mississippi Association of Realtors, member of the National Association of Realtors, sponsor of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and member of the Starkville Academy Booster Club. Doug is survived by his sons, Will Goodwin and Jake Goodwin both of Starkville, MS; parents, Donald and Anita Goodwin of DeKalb, MS; sister, Debbie Richardson and nephew Adam Richardson of Starkville, MS; sister, Beverly Goodwin and nephew Taylor Silva of Tuscaloosa, AL.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 12-2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Starkville. A celebration of life service will immediately follow conducted by Rev. Tommy Temple. Graveside services was at Memorial Garden Park in Starkville.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Adam Richardson, Taylor Silva, Steve Roberts, Lee Kirkpatrick, Vance Taylor, Dr. Billy Davis, Dr. Gil Davis, David Haggard, Sterling Dahl, Frank Jones, Van Miles, James Moffitt, Gene Goodwin and Tommy Goodwin.
Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman and always looked forward to the annual “White River” trip with his long time friends. He was better known as “Bones” to them and the people of his stomping grounds of Louisville, MS. Doug loved athletics and all sporting events as well. He was a very proud supporter of Starkville Academy. But to everyone who knew Doug, knew his passion and true joy was being the best father in the world to Will and Jake.
