Mr. Clarence William Holliday

Mr. Clarence William Holliday passed away on June 6, 2013. Holliday was 76 years of age and died in the Winston County Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at New Home U.M. Church on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. The minister preaching was Reverend Samuel Tisdale.

Holliday was born on December 7, 1936. He was a member of New Hope U.M. Church of Dekalb, MS.

Clarence William Holliday is survived by his sisters Annie Lee Coleman, Flora Mae Jones, Hazel Holliday Harvey, Carolyn Grace, and Hattie Anderson. He is also survived by his brothers Randollph Holliday and Curlie Holliday.

Mr. George Henry Sims

George Henry Sims passed away on June 9, 2013, in Chicago, IL.

Mr. Sims was 75 years of age and died from Cardiac Arrest.

George Sims was born in Louisville, MS, on November 4, 1937.

Funeral Services were held at Pleasant Grove U.M. Church in Louisville, MS, on June 15, 2013 at 2pm. The minister officiating was Reverend Roosevelt Gage.

Mr. Sims is survived by his sisters, Luevenia Brown, Leama Banks, Frankie Jackson, Lueverda Kincaid and Quincy Elmore. He is also survived by his brother, Fred Sims.

Mrs. Mattie L. Carter

Mattie L. Carter passed away on June 8, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Gautier, MS.

Carter was 82 years of age, and died of cardiac arrest.

Funeral services were held at Mt. Calvary M.B. Church in Louisville on June 14, 2013, at 2 p.m. The minister officiating was Dr. Michael Taylor.

Carter was born on April 28, 1931, and was a member of Mount Calvary M.B. Church in Louisville, MS. She was also a homemaker.

Mattie Carter is survived by her daughters, Katie Black, Ida Shoemaker, Betty Carter, Carolyn Carter and Sadie Triplett, and her sons, Frank J. Carter and Thermon Carter. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Pearlie Mae Miller

Pearlie Mae Miller, age 97, passed away on June 1, 2013. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on June 8th at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Louisville. Rev. Joseph Etua officiated. Burial followed in New Zion Cemetery.

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Miller was a homemaker. She was also a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Miller died at her nephew’s house in Atlanta, GA.

Survivors include her two foster children, Bessie Tucker of Decatur, GA, and Charleston Bridges of Ashtabula, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ms. Joanne Coats Duran

Funeral services for Ms. Joanne Coats Duran was held at 2 pm Sun., June 16, 2013 at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. John Stephens officiating. Interment will be in Spring Creek Cemetery. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Duran, 75, of Linden, Alabama, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at her residence. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.

Ms. Duran is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Bassett of Phila, MS; sons, William T. Gibson of Linden, AL, Chris Duran of Phila, MS; sister, Carolyn Morgan of Linden, AL; (8) grandchildren; (13) great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Todd Gibson, Josh McBrayer, Eli McBrayer, Adam McBrayer, Curtis Richardson & Mason Duran.
