Judy White Cother, 63, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at North MS Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Louisville, MS on August 6, 1950, to Sherrell L. White and Kathleen Garvin White. She was a 1968 graduate of Louisville High School and continued her education at Mississippi State University where she earned a BS degree in Social Work. She married Billy Cother on August 17, 1972, and they made their home in Tupelo, where she worked as an Imaging Specialist for BancorpSouth for over twenty years.
Judy was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, where she worked with the children during her younger years. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, smocking, and other crafts. She enjoyed camping and traveling. She was an avid reader, and studying family genealogy and history were very important to her. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Cother of Tupelo; mother, Kathleen Garvin White of Louisville; daughter, Anna Beth Cother Williams (Kevin) of Tupelo; a son, Jesse Daniel Cother of Tupelo; two sisters, Jeanith Laura Burdine (Bobby) of Ackerman and Margaret Joy White of Louisville; a brother, Jack Alan White (Terri)of Bay Springs; sister-in-law, Bonnie Cother Cornelison of Milton, FL; two grandchildren, Sarah Kathleen Williams and Paisley Grace Williams; a host of beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father , Sherrell L. White ,and grandparents, Thelma Laura McCoy, John Ellis “Pat” Garvin, Mary Jennie Varner White, and Jesse Mabery White.
A celebration service was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Matt Scopel officiating, assisted by Bro. Kevin Williams. Graveside service followed at Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation was Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to service time.
Pallbearers were Jim Locke, Terry Bradford, James Agnew, Tim Soper, Dee Dye, and Phillip Crowe. Honorary pallbearers will be her associates at BancorpSouth.
