Obituary – William “Alan” Smith

Funeral services for William “Alan” Smith were held Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sam Kitching and Judge Veldore Young officiating. Burial will be in Graham Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Alan, age 48, of Meridian, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in the line of duty.
He was an EMT for ASAP Ambulance and was also a volunteer firefighter at South Fire Department in Meridian. He had been a barber at Peeks Barber Shop for over 20 years. He was a loving daddy, fiancé, son, brother, and uncle. Alan was an avid hunter, fisherman, and he loved to play golf. He coached his sons in little league baseball and he was a certified 4H Shooting Sports instructor.
Survivors include his sons, William “Eliot” Smith and wife, Lauren and Alan “Luke” Smith; Alan’s fiancé, Casey Boone and her children, Zoie and Ian Graham; mother, Dorothy Dearman Vance and husband, Mike; father, William “Odell” Smith and wife, Maxine; brothers, Kevin Smith and wife, Lessia and “Edward” Ethan Smith and wife, Kellie; nieces, Harleigh Claire Smith, Ella Michelle Smith, and Summer Roberts; and nephews, Tyler and Heath Roberts.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward G. and Sarah Cahoon Dearman and Ethan Smith and Edna Caraway Smith; and uncles, Richard A. Dearman and Benny Curtis Smith.
Pallbearers will be Steve Crawford, Mack McCann, Adam Lewis, Robbie Spangler, Dana Bumgardner, Justin Gaudet, Tyler Bye, Damion Burk and Wallace Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be his co-workers at ASAP Ambulance, Greene County Emergency Management, Greene County Sheriff Department, Greene County District 3 Road Crew, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Sand Hill, Jonathon, Neely, Leaksville, McClann, and SMCI Volunteer Fire Departments.
