Winston Plywood & Veneer announced on October 20 that Jon Pierce will now serve as President of Winston Plywood & Veneer.
“I have known Jon as a friend and colleague for many years and can say without hesitation; he’s the right man for the job,” stated New Wood Resources CEO Kurt Liebich.
Jon Pierce is a longtime member of the Atlas Holdings and New Wood Resources’ family. His many years of plywood experience, along with serving as President of Olympic Panel Products will assist him in his new endeavor stated the company.
“His (Pierce’s) approach at Olympic was simple; he supported his team by making the safety of every associate his top priority, each and every day. He understands our workplace from the bottom up, having started his career as a project manager over two decades ago. At each stop in his career, his company has been a stronger, safer and more profitable place than when he arrived,” said Liebich.
Pierce earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University. He and his wife Shaynee have been married for 23 year and have 2 children.
Pierce takes over the Winston Plywood role from Kurt Liebich CEO of New Wood Resources, Winston Plywood and Veneer’s parent company. Liebich had been overseeing the plywood mill since Dr. Richard Baldwin’s retirement in September.
“Winston Plywood is the finest plywood facility in North America. Our future is bright,” stated Liebich who will continue his role as New Wood Resources CEO.
According to the company, as Winston Plywood undertakes this ongoing transition to the operational phase of the business, it does so in uniquely capable hands. Along with Pierce, its efforts will continue to be led by those who collectively bring decades of industry experience and expertise. These leaders include Ernie Plaunty, Ken Carter, Mike Creely, David Morel, Rich Stipanovich and the finest collection of associates found in any mill anywhere in North America.
