On May 13, Winston Countians will have an opportunity to attend an
unveiling of a new industry to locate in Winston County.
The Mississippi Development Authority, Governor Phil Bryant’s office,
the Winston County Economic Development Partnership, City of
Louisville, Winston County, TVA, ARC and other officials will welcome
the new industry at 2:30p.m. Monday, May 13 at the former Georgia
Pacific Plywood facility.
The City of Louisville which had received the building from Georgia
Pacific has signed a lease with the new company.
State, federal dignitaries, officials from TVA, city of Louisville
have been working with the company to begin repairing the former
Georgia Pacific building along with investing in the site’s upgrades.
In the April 16, Louisville Board of Aldermen meeting the board
authorized the use of $3,000,000 in Community Development Block
Grants from the state and a match from the industry to help get the
building and site ready for the new company. ARC has also committed
up to $400,000 in funds for the project.
TVA has awarded a $20,000 grant for lighting repairs at the facility.
The May 13, 2:30 p.m. announcement should have a significant impact
on the local economy.
Area residents wishing to welcome the new industry are invited to the
unveiling. Federal, state and local officials are expected to be on
