From staff reports
With another monthly meeting drawn to a close, the Relay for Life teams and committees are closer to the May 2 event date.
This year’s theme is “Winston County doesn’t Toy around with cancer.”
The Louisville High School football field will be packed with individuals, churches, schools, businesses and healthcare providers who realize that cancer has affected our county and who want to make a difference.
“I want to encourage Winston County to step outside the box and think what you can do instead of thinking what you don’t have time to do. All we truly have in life is time. Don’t be too busy to help our future generations find a cure. We have to fight back!” said Brandi Krajewski, 2014 Chairman of Relay for Life.
Finalizations for this year’s Relay for Life Committee have been made and they are as follows:
Chairperson/Co-Chair, Brandi Krajewski and Laura Harris; Luminaries, Penny Crowson, Joann Clark, and Jill Pearson; Team Recruitment, Amy Hillyer; Survivor Chairs, Melanie Yates, Sara Hill, and Leigh Wade; Entertainment, Elaine Porter; Public Relations, Lacey Vowell and Fran Misso; and Accounting, Paul Black.
“We are still searching for businesses and churches to get involved in the fight against cancer. We want to make this year a huge success for our county since so many in our county have been affected by this monster.” Krajewski continued by stating that “There has to be continued support of this cause to bring awareness, fight back and raise money for research. If people don’t come together our small committee can not do this alone. There is no “I” in TEAM and we need the TEAM of Winston County to come forward and work!”
The following is a list of confirmed teams: Winston Medical Center, Louisville Medical Associates, Servpro, Evergreen Baptist Church, The Way Baptist Church, Fresh Market Grill, Wal-Mart, Center Ridge Church, Louisville Public Schools, Winston Academy Honor Society, Fire Department, and First Baptist Church.
