Simms Road in Winston County is now closed on the north end, just south of Hwy 25, for the replacement of two deficient bridges.
Construction is expected to keep Simms Road closed at this location for period of 4 to 6 months. Ellis Construction started the repairs March 14.
“We apologize for the inconveniencing the traveling public for the time period it takes for these two deficient structures to be replaced,” stated county officials.
The bridges were listed as deficient on the National Bridge inventory.
The two bridges on Simms Road could no longer handle heavy loads traveling across incluiding school bus traffic.
The .288 mile state aid bridge project was awarded Feb. 17 for $583,421.19.
