Salute to Success breakfast set April 7

Staff reports

Recognizing academic achievement is what the “Salute to Success” breakfast is all about. Honor graduates from all Winston County high schools will be honored at a special breakfast set for 8 a.m. April 7 at Lake Tiak O’Khata.

Kelli Wall of the Winston County Economic Development District Partnership said the breakfast includes all of the honor graduates, school officials and a few elected officials who will serve as guest speakers. Winston Medical Center along with Winston County Partnership will sponsor this year’s event.

“The ‘Salute to Success’ breakfast has been a vital part of the Winston County Partnership, due to this program allowing us to acknowledge all of the honor students for their achievements,” Wall said. “We feel it’s very important and influential to the honor grads to be recognized and it encourages the other students moving up to want to be a part of this program. It’s a great opportunity and pleasure to us to be able to do this yearly and it means a lot to the students to know they are recognized and appreciated for all of their hard work.”

Guest speakers for this year’s event will include:

  • Mike Peterson, president of the Winston County Board of Supervisors, will share a short welcome;
  • Sammy Carter, mayor of the town of Noxapater, will share a short welcome;
  • Will Hill, mayor of the City of Louisville, will be the motivational speaker;
  • Rep. Giles Ward will give the invocation.
