Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn made a tour of Winston County October 30 to listen to citizens’ concerns.
Gunn along with District 35 Representative Joey Hood who after redistricting represents most of Winston County discussed with citizens the concerns they had with state government.
Gunn and Hood discussed with citizens topics including education concerns, the Affordable Care Act, protection of the Second Amendment, economic development and much more.
Gunn noted he was encouraged by the interest many citizens took in the actions and funding spent in Jackson.
“Education is one of the top concerns especially since we spend 62 percent of every dollar collected by the state on education,” said Gunn.
Gunn added that while talking with citizens he was pointing out the good job Rep. Hood was doing in the legislator and representing Winston County.
