The Winston County Journal
The Winston County Board of Supervisors was given an update on the progress of bridge and road repairs around the county during their regular meeting held on June 3.
County engineer Jimmy Kemp explained how and when the county does road projects, the sections of those roads are turned over to state aid. Once the project is completed, the section is turned back over to the county. In order for these to be accepted, the county must sign and approve a written order.
Kemp presented a written order for the completion of the Yellow Creek Road project, which has been ongoing for some time.
Kemp also mentioned projects involving Highway 25 and Calvary Road section, as well as the Plattsburgh-Rural Hill Project. He is hoping that once the funding is there, they will be able to swiftly complete these projects in the near future.
Also, the Betheden Road project, which caused a previous closing of the road due to repairs, will soon be open for travel. Once the road is open, the Bluff Lake Road project should begin at that time.
Dean Park Commissioner also gave the board members a financial update and current expenditures regarding the park’s budget. She explained with four months remaining in the budget, the park’s commissioners are confident they will not exceed their limit, and may possibly have some carry-over.
Weaver also requested authorization for a quote of $550.00 to upgrade the electrical grid in the pavilion to prevent breaker outages. This will separate the electrical lights and electrical outlets to reduce the chance of power outages. Weaver also explained that she would be using other funds outside the budget to cover $525.00 of the cost, leaving only a $25 balance.
