Louisville High School’s contingent of athletes competing in the MHSAA Class 3A State Track Meet on Monday at Pearl High School wasn’t large, but it was very effective.
With just two individual athletes and two relay teams competing, the Lady Wildcats compiled an impressive 33 points to finish eighth out of 28 teams. Wilkinson County won the girls meet with 78 points, while Saint Andrews was second with 67 and Charleston was third with 52.50.
Louisville’s Shantianna Thames took first place in the girls 100 meters with a time of 12.75, while claiming fifth in the 200 meters with a clocking of 26.25.
Her teammate Tamia Dora was third in the girls 800 meters with a time of 2:34.01. The girls 4×100 relay team took second with a time of 50.03, while the girls 4×200 relay team finished fourth with a time of 1:48.32.
The boys 4×200 relay team was fifth with a time of 1:33.30. Tylertown won the boys 3A title with 103 points, while East Side had 99 points for second and Jefferson County was third with 71 points. Louisville finished 21st out of 25 teams with four points.
