R.J. Pierce fired a complete game four-hitter to lead Noxapater to a 9-3 win over homestanding Newton High School last Thursday.
Newton actually took a 3-1 lead by scoring three runs in the bottom of the third inning, but the visiting Tigers responded to score four in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the seventh to take the 9-3 win.
Pierce only gave up one earned run in the game, while striking out six on the way to earning the victory.
Freshmen Braden Estes and Keonte Daniels each ripped a double and single for the winners, while senior Nick Strehle had a hit and a sacrifice and drove in three runs. Brandon Kugle, Hayden Pierce and R.J. Pierce each had a single for Noxapater.
The Tigers were set to visit Nanih Waiya for a region game on Tuesday, weather permitting, before hosting league foe West Lowndes on Friday and then entertaining non-league opponent Choctaw Central on Saturday. Noxapater is set to visit East Oktibbeha on April 15, before hosting West Oktibbeha for a doubleheader on April 17.
The Lady Tigers of Noxapater High School are scheduled to host league opponent Nanih Waiya on THursday, before visiting Ethel on Friday.
The next week sees Noxapater again traveling to Ethel for a 4 p.m. contest on April 15, before closing out the regular season with a home game against Starkville High School on April 22.
