Five local athletes were recently honored by being chosen for the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 1A All-State football team.
Two Noxapater Tigers and and two Nanih Waiya Warriors were chosen for the first team, while another Warrior was placed on the second team.
A pair of Noxapater seniors — safety Justin Robertson and end Trevara Miller — were selected to the first team defense, while Nanih Waiya juniors Hayden Patterson at guard and Jamarlo Smith at fullback were tapped for the first team offense.
Robertson also represented the South team in the recently played Bernard Blackwell Classic All-Star football game played in Gulfport.
Senior Nanih Waiya long snapper Stewart Ball was named to the second team offense.
French Camp Academy’s Nathan Wright was chosen Coach of the Year, while Stringer senior Tevin Moore was picked as Offensive Player of The Year and Coffeeville junior Antavius Moody was named Defensive Player of the Year.
Other athletes from Region 3-1A — in which Noxapater and Nanih Waiya both participate — named to the first team 1A All-State football team were: senior tight end Ashlen Davis of Ethel, senior quarterback Jesse Hosket of French Camp, senior athlete Hagan Box of French Camp, senior defensive end Cortez Johnson of French Camp, and senior defensive tackle Jevante McAdory of French Camp.
Also making the second team from Region 3-1A was senior place-kicker Sam Gould of French Camp.
