Town and Country Garden Club of Louisville attended Fall District Awards

Five members of the Town and Country Garden Club of Louisville attended the Southern Pines Fall District Awards Meeting in Union on October 10, 2013. There were 85 Garden Club members from the Southern Pines District that attended the meeting. Those attending from Town and Country Garden Club were; Elaine Thompson, Dale Shumaker, Debbie Moody, Noneine Keen, and Sandra Culwell. Town and Country Garden Club was recognized as a Blue Ribbon Club. The club also received a Certificate of Merit for Backyard Habitat, Community Service, Garden Therapy, and Historical Preservation and Preservation; and Certificate of Appreciation for Habitat for Humanity, Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Lanoux Youth Nature Camp, and GCM State Headquarters. Clubs in the Southern Pines District were invited to attend the Spring Workshop that will be held on May 20. 2014, in Bay Springs. The Union Home and Garden Club hosted the meeting. Lunch was served and the meeting was adjourned.

The Town and Country Garden Club made a trip to the Fall Flower and Garden Fest in Crystal Springs, Mississippi on October 19, 2013. The Fest was held at the Truck Crops Experiment Station. This is the largest home gardening show in the Southeast. An average attendance is 6,000 people over the two day event. Club members enjoyed walking the gardens at the Experimental Station where there was a wide variety of vegetables and flowers. Among the four members who attended were Sandra Culwell, Frances Pierce, Brenda Jowers, and Debbie Moody.
