Two Winston County students recognized

Plum Creek has awarded two $1,000 scholarships to Winston County high school students. Since 2007, Plum Creek has annually awarded scholarships to exemplary high school seniors who plan to continue their education after graduation. The scholarships recognize students who have excelled in the areas of academics, school and community activities, and overall achievement in their high school careers. The winners for Winston County are:

Madison Holdiness

Madison Holdiness

Madison Holdiness — Madison is a graduate of Nanih Waiya Attendance Center and will attend East Mississippi Community College in the fall. While in high school, she was salutatorian and distinguished as four-year honor student, a Mississippi Scholar and an honors graduate. She also cheered, played basketball and softball, and was a four-year member of student council. Madison is the daughter of Joey and Carla Holdiness.

 

Ashley Luke

Ashley Luke

Ashley Luke — Ashley is a graduate of Nanih Waiya Attendance Center and will attend East Central Community College in the fall. While in high school, she was valedictorian and distinguished as a four-year honor student, a Mississippi Scholar and an honors graduate. She was also an active member of Beta Club, the Foreign Language Club and the softball team. Ashley is the daughter of Cliff and Lori Luke.
This year, Plum Creek awarded 121 scholarships to high school seniors around the country, totaling $149,000. In Mississippi, students were awarded nine 2014 Plum Creek scholarships, totaling $10,000.
