There will always be reminders of the devastation that occurred Monday, April 28 yet I hope those reminders will be of how a community pulled together and rebuilt itself from the dust. In some places where homes once stood is now only dust, but this should only show the resolve of Winston Countians to rebuild and create an event better Winston County. I was a witness to this great strength as volunteers from across the county and across the state were out cleaning off roadways, checking homes and helping out anyway they could even as the cold rain continued to pelt everyone. As the old saying goes “to succeed you must only get up one more time than you are knocked down”. I know Winston County can get back up from this is build a successful future from the bricks spun around by the tornadoes. I must recognize all the emergency personnel from the police to electrical crews who worked tirelessly to help all those they could. While the devastation is less than two days behind us, the strength shown by the citizens of Winston County shows me a strong future is ahead of use.
