The Winston County Library hosted a “Dig Into Reading” Summer Library Program each Tuesday during June 4 through and July 2 for children entering the first through sixth grades.
Children were encouraged to read throughout the summer, and the library awarded prizes donated by the Louisville Bankers’ Association.
Reading awards and prizes were given out on Tuesday, July 2, with a grand prize of a $50 gift certificate from Wal-Mart. The fire truck was also on hand to spray water on any willing participants, and face-painting and refreshments were provided by the Junior Auxiliary Crown Club and the library.
“We could not do it without the generous support of all of our program sponsors. My thanks to all of them for making these fun and educational programs available to the children of Winston County,” said Winston County Librarian Beth Edwards.
Over 130 children enjoyed the summer program.
