Winston County student receives high academic honor

OXFORD, Miss. – Jesse Juncong Xie of Louisville MS 39339 was inducted into the University of Mississippi’s chapter of Phi Kappa Phi in a campus ceremony Oct. 28 at David Nutt Auditorium. Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is the university’s highest academic honor across all disciplines.

Xie is a senior majoring in pharmaceutical science slated to graduate in May. A member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, he received a Distinguished Citation in Medicinal Chemistry Research. He is listed on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll and earned the pharmacy school’s Helping Hand Award.

A graduate of Grace Christian School, he is the son of Tong Huo Xie and Xin Li Hu.

Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest, largest and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines. Membership is based on a student’s sound character and academic standing. Juniors must have completed 72 credit hours and rank in the top 7.5 percent of their class, while seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10 percent of their class.
