Four athletes who play for Winston County schools were selected to play for the District 4 baseball team in the upcoming State Games of Mississippi that will be played in Meridian.
Among those making the 18-man squad were outfielder Isaiah Eiland and outfielder/infielder Peyton Jones of Nanih Waiya High School, first baseman A.J. Triplett of Louisville High School, and shortstop/pitcher Reed McCool of Winston Academy. The team is begin coached by Tyler Rogers of Nanih Waiya.
The team was made up of athletes from Eupora, Louisville, Winston Academy, Nanih Waiya, New Hope, Columbus, Starkville, and Starkville Academy as well as others.
The District 4 team is scheduled to arrive in Meridian on June 26 for the eight-team, double-elimination event that will be played at Meridian Community College’s Scaggs Field. The tournament is normally highly attended by college and professional scouts.
