From staff and press reports
Burglars broke into the The WinstonStrong warehouses this past weekend and stole many items.
The Louisville Police are asking citizens for help in locating the thieves.
At one warehouse, a significant number of Commercial Grade, refurbished and new, Milwaukee Power Tools including cordless drills, hammer drills, impact drivers, a sander, 12V and 18 V rechargeable batteries, and 12V Chargers were taken in the burglary. These were items that had been donated by Milwaukee Tool in support of recovery efforts in Winston County and were being used to help rebuild and repair homes in the county.
At the second warehouse, hand tools, household items, food donated for incoming volunteer groups, and diapers belonging to the American Red Cross were taken.
Members of WinstonStrong are requesting anyone with information please contact the police.
“Winston STRONG is committed to helping our community recover from the April tornado and has been developing the necessary support for the volunteer groups who are giving of their time and efforts to assist us in this time of repair and rebuilding. This has included the development of the Volunteer Operations Center to house tools, materials, and donated items to be used by the volunteers in recovery efforts and assist victims of the storm. The tools and materials have all been provided by organizations, churches, and individuals for the express purpose of helping those in need and serve as a valuable resource to alleviate the need for teams to bring equipment with them over long distances. The donated materials provide ready resources in the absence of funds to purchase the needed items,” said Bro. Hubert E. Yates, Winston STRONG (CBRC)/Volunteer Management Coordinator.
He added, “For individuals to break in and take these items is disheartening to Winston STRONG’s leadership, volunteers, and to our many supporters. It limits our ability to help those that we have dedicated our efforts to assist. However, we are Winston STRONG. We will rise above the acts of those who can only see to benefit themselves and continue to serve our community by assisting those in need. We call on the Louisville and Winston County Community to come together to apprehend those responsible.”
If you know who committed these acts, know where the items are located, or have information on any of the burglaries that have affected Louisville and Winston County, contact the Louisville Police Department at 662-773-3511, Winston County Sheriff’s Office at 662-773-5881, or Winston County CrimeStoppers at 662-773-9999.
