Students from the Winston-Louisville Career & Technology Center recently participated in the SkillsUSA State Competition at Hinds Community College on March 22 and 23. Students enrolled in the Construction, Metal Fabrication, and Automotive Services classes who placed at the district level were eligible to compete at the state level. SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations. The organization also provides opportunities for students to further their education by awarding scholarships to winners at competitions. The WLCTC was represented well at the state competition, as several students placed in their divisions. First place winners may advance to the national competition, which will be held in Kansas City, Missouri, in June.
